Literature Text

Watching walls come crumbling down
Weaving wraith-like through the sound
Metal on metal, windows smashing
Dying trees, voices crashing
Like a wave, the last tsunami
Overwhelming, slowly drags me
Down into the empty feelings
Life of silence, without meaning
Anything you used to know
Pack up your memories, it's time to go

The last day of anything's always too hard
Make your last bet, throw in your cards
Remember the faces, remember the names
After we're gone, it won't be the same

Face all your friends, love all your fears
Do at least one thing to reduce you to tears
Trade away secrets, your numbers, your time
But at the end, it's always goodbye

So clean out your locker and pack up your desk
Throw out the bills, burn up the tests
You took when you were still just a kid
No matter what happened, what shit that we did
We still had our butterflies, our snatches of air
Gold liquid summers reflect in your stare
Which still is too painful for me to endure
But in the disease, I might find a cure
To all of the memories, to forget (finally) you
And melt away giddily into summer-sky blue

The last day of anything's always too hard
Make your last bet, then throw in your cards
Remember the faces, remember the names
After we're gone, it won't be the same

So hug all your friends, and close your eyes
Clear out your luggage, let go of the sighs
Walk into the world with your heart in the sky
Letting the world whisper with you; goodbye
It hurts.....
